Old Games on New Hardware and Ultrawide Gaming

Lately I’ve gotten really into installing older games and getting the most out of my powerful gaming PC with INI performance and FOV tweaks in addition to ultrawide and refresh rate hacks. I’ve had some mixed success, but some games have aged really well on newer hardware.

Pandemic’s the Saboteur – 2009
Final Fantasy VII (PSX version originally from 1997) on Steam with mods and upscaled backgrounds
2009’s X-Men Wolverine Origins on PC with various INI tweaks, unlocked framerate and ultrawide hack
2012’s Lego Lord of the Ring via Steam with various tweaks and ultrawide
1991 on SNES and 2021 on Steam – Technically this a “new” old game – Final Fantasy IV Pixel Remaster with near ultrawide (native support) and various visual mods
2016’s Dark Souls 3 with ultrawide hack
2021 remaster (Legendary Edition) of 2007’s Mass Effect – various mods and ultrawide
2010’s Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood with ultrawide and tweaks
2009’s Assassin’s Creed 2 with ultrawide and tweaks
2013’s Bioshock Infinite with ultrawide
2017’s Nier Automata with mods and ultrawide

PC re-release of 2010s PS3 JRPG – Ni No Kuni Wrath of the White Witch – this is a very high resolution with an ultrawide hack

2014’s Alien Isolation on Steam with INI tweaks and 21:9 ultrawide
